Borodin-style, Chabrier-style [Wind Quintet]
“À la manière de Borodine,” along with “À la manière de Chabrier,” is an elegant and refreshing piano miniature composed in 1913 at the request of Alfredo Casella (1883-1947).
While incorporating characteristics found in Borodin's works throughout the piece, it is crafted into a stylish French waltz. In the middle section, motifs reminiscent of the "Polovtsian Dances" from the opera "Prince Igor" are repeatedly used.
Additionally, “À la manière de Chabrier” is a highly artistic piano miniature composed by Ravel, imitating Gounod's aria “Flower Song” from the opera “Faust” in the style of Chabrier.
