"Bacchanale" from the Opera "Samson and Delilah" [Saxophone Quartet]

"Bacchanale" from the opera "Samson and Delilah" (French: Bacchanale de "Samson et Dalila", Op.47) is a work composed by the French composer, pianist, and organist Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921).
"Samson and Delilah" is a three-act, four-scene opera based on the story from the Old Testament "Book of Judges," which depicts the conflict between Samson, a man of extraordinary strength, and his opposing nation. The libretto was created by Ferdinand Lemaire, Saint-Saëns' cousin.
The setting is Gaza, Palestine, in 1150 BC. Samson, a Hebrew warrior, succumbs to the seduction of the enemy princess Delilah and is blinded, but ultimately protects his homeland even as he perishes.
"Bacchanale" is performed in Act 3, Scene 2. This piece is often performed independently. In addition to this work, "Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix" is also famous.
