Ma mère l'Oye [Flute Quartet]

　Originally composed as a piano duet for children, this piece was later arranged by Ravel himself into an orchestral suite and a ballet. This arrangement for flute and piccolo was based on the five-movement piano duet and orchestral suite. I have endeavored to capture the distinct expressions, dynamic ranges, and beautiful Ravelian harmonies of each of the five movements, despite the limited range of the flute and piccolo and the restriction of only four simultaneous notes. The title is "Mother Goose" (referring to traditional English nursery rhymes including "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "London Bridge"). I hope you enjoy the charming world of these five pieces.
　The 3rd Grande Flute uses the B note. If performing with a C-footjoint flute or if playing the B note is difficult, please follow the notes and performance instructions in the lower staff or in parentheses. (Chihiro Sugimoto)
