Wilderness of Wind - for 6 percussionists

*This is a 6-percussion arrangement by the composer. This piece was composed in 2008 for an ensemble contest and recital held at school. It was originally based on the concept of creating a piece suitable for junior students who were forming a percussion quintet, but had varying grade levels and skill sets. In other words, the difficulty varies by part (2nd, 3rd, and 4th parts are set to a higher difficulty, while 1st and 5th parts are set to a lower difficulty). The motif is "wind," and it expresses the journey and trajectory of the "wind" itself, born from nowhere and blowing through everything. Sometimes on a hill overlooking the sea, sometimes in the midst of ominous swirling purple clouds, and sometimes in a barren wilderness. Thus, the wind continues its aimless wanderings, not knowing where it is headed. Becoming a gentle breeze that softly rustles someone's hair, a storm that fells trees and houses, still seeking beautiful landscapes yet unseen.
