Unlike a piano, where the keys pressed change, on a saxophone, each finger has a dedicated key. For this reason, a "finger numbering" system, which has been systematized in piano for a long time, has not been established for the saxophone. For pianists, finger numbering is incredibly important, and almost all pianists would say it's unthinkable not to follow it.
So, what if a "finger numbering" system existed for the saxophone?! This book describes exactly that.
The most efficient fingerings are noted for every position. This isn't just about my personal preferred fingerings; they are basically universal for everyone. ^^
For example, it's easier to move only one hand than both simultaneously. It's easier if fingers releasing and fingers pressing don't coexist at the same time. It's easier if you don't unnecessarily change your wrist position. It's easier if there's support from another finger rather than continuously repeating the same movement with a single finger.
The list is endless, and I haven't written every detail, but I've clearly indicated the fingerings so you can quickly learn the optimal ones! You'll even be able to smoothly play scales with six flats.
Virtuosos with incredible technique avoid inefficient fingerings and move their fingers at high speed under these rules. For those who play incredibly difficult pieces, while there may be some variations, these fingerings are fundamental.
Additionally, arpeggios for all keys are included with chord names. This is not just for learning chord names, but also for practicing all inversions of chords and developing an understanding of harmony. You'll encounter arpeggios of F, A, and C many times, and you'll notice they have different atmospheres depending on where they appear.
I feel that if you put in a little effort, you'll be able to play surprisingly easily, and if you truly commit, this book will significantly improve your skills. I hope you can anticipate chords with optimal fingerings and enjoy more freedom in your playing.
