"Ave Maria (Tanti Anni Prima)" is a work by Argentinian composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992). In 1984, he was commissioned to compose the music for the film "Henry IV," and one of the pieces he created for this film was "Tanti Anni Prima" (Many Years Ago). "Ave Maria" is this same piece, "Tanti Anni Prima," with Italian lyrics.
Piazzolla's 100th birthday was celebrated in 2021, and his works are still widely performed today. He created a unique performance style that blended classical and jazz elements with tango.
