The Violin Sonata was composed in 1886 by the Belgian composer César-Auguste-Jean-Guillaume-Hubert Franck (1822-1890) for violin and piano. It was dedicated to the Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe. This work is composed using a compositional technique known as cyclic form, which aims to unify the entire piece by introducing common motifs. This work has been arranged for various ensembles. This saxophone arrangement emphasizes accurately capturing the original intent of the piece. (Yuto Yamada)
