Hofu Odori Paraphrase [Saxophone Trio]

This is an arrangement for clarinet trio of "Hofu Odori" (commonly known as "Hofu Ondo"), a song danced during the Bon Festival in Hofu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, commissioned by the Executive Committee of the "35th Clarinet Festival in Yamaguchi." The composer, Jun Suzuki, is also from Hofu City, and has many hit songs such as "Koyubi no Omoide" and "Yottsu no Onegai." Although the original song is in the style of an "ondo," I attempted to arrange and compose it by extracting only the melody. The middle section was newly created from the initial melodic sequence. This song is hardly known outside of Hofu City, even within Yamaguchi Prefecture, but I hope it will be widely performed as a new chamber music piece with a Japanese-style melody. It was premiered in December 2018 at the "35th Clarinet Festival in Yamaguchi" by Mieko Harada, Erina Honma, and Toru Kanayama.
