Concert Partita for Saxophone Quartet [Saxophone Quartet]

When I compose music, colors and images always accompany me. Most of them do not exist in reality, but within myself, they exist as undeniable facts, and I am always their observer. However, it is only when they transform into an appeal and a question is posed that they take on a visible form. With suffering and joy, and all other conflicts and happiness, I pour my heart and will into them.
1. Prelude - As the Colors Dawn - Mist and sunlight mingle, and amidst the soft rustling of trees and grasses, a mythical beast with an inscrutable smile stands quietly. It folds its four legs and gazes calmly at me, while spirits around it laugh as if in challenge. I strongly focused on depicting the scene, revising it many times to faithfully express the colors within me.
2. Branle - Swaying, Leaping, Circling - The element of a dance where pairs change partners and dance in a circle is incorporated throughout the piece. Replacing people with sounds, it affirms both consonance and dissonance.
3. Menuet - With a Small Pain - While adhering to the musical form, the piece fluctuates between light and shadow within it. It is no exaggeration to say that I composed this suite solely for the purpose of writing this particular piece.
4. Passepied - Passing Feet - Inorganic feet march in perfect formation, as if driven by something, like a flock. The piece features polymeters and polyrhythms based on 5/4 time, but one instrument always plays eighth notes (footsteps) on every beat, moving forward persistently amidst unease. It is the only piece among the five that moves in a vertical line.
5. Finale - The Beginning - The overarching framework of the suite, a V-I in D-flat major, is carried over from the 4th movement attacca, and for the first time, it is intensely presented in its complete form. Incorporating partial elements from all movements, it is a flamboyant finale where various motifs appear and disappear in a dizzying array.
